  • Taking everything into consideration, we can state that SMath Studio is a powerful application that lets you create and calculate even complex expressions, with options to plot graphs and solve matrices. The workspace lets anyone quickly accommodate regardless of experience, while the auto-complete feature and rich library of content make sure you learn to love math.

  • The secret power of the original MathCad was its self-documenting feature. SMath brings this back and it is free. Amazing. Write your math essentially the same way you would write it by hand, but it is live. The math is calculated left-to-right then top-to-bottom. Self-documenting and live. Wonderful.

  • Superlative !!! good job !!! Congratulation

    by Max

  • I'm absolutely love this app. It's a great tool for usual engineering calculations, and way more easier to use for me than matlab and others.

    by Zoltán Balázs

  • This fantastic free alternative to Mathcad is going from strength to strength and I am really enjoying watching its progress. Andrey has produced something that is genuinely useful, multiplatform, fun to use and, most importantly of all, he listens to his users. Well worth a download.

  • Thank you so much for this amazing tool great job!

    by Sanan Toplic

  • Brilliant program. I have MathCAD but as they have gone for subscription based I am discontinuing that. Until now I have not found any design calculation that I cannot make using SMath Studio. I recommend to all of my customers to forget all spread sheet based calculations and go for SMath Studio. I have developed my own specialty engineering software and know how much work that is. Thank You Andrey.

    by Jouko Tolonen

  • Although it lacks some of mathcad's possibilities, it is undoubtedly an excellent spreadsheet for engineering.

    by Jose Costa

  • The best software for Engineers. Easy, lightweight and comprehensive. Kudos to its Developer.

    by Shafiq

  • This is an amazing mathematical tool which is at the same level as some of the most sophisticated and expensive math software. I use it in all my classes and promote its use with all my engineering students.

SMath Studio plug-ins (all plug-ins...)

The functionality of the program can be expanded through the installation of plug-ins created by third-party developers and companies, as well as those prepared by the SMath LLC team. Most plug-ins are open source and can be modified if necessary.

I appreciate all your hard work on this software; however, please turn off the popup trying to install the 7005 version every time I open my 6884 version. There are too many plugins that I need that no longer work with the 7005 version.
Thanks again for all your hard work.

Go to: Tools > Plugins... > SMath Studio

then enable the option "Don't check for updates"

I did. However, now I cannot even use the older version with maple or XY plots. This has totally ruined my workflow. Let me know when this is fixed and I will return to Smath.

I generally recommend to not upgrade the installed version until you verified that new versions are functional to the level you need.

To test new versions, use the linux version (yes, it runs under Windows and yes it is significantly smaller), unpack it to some directory and add a file named portable.version to that directory. Then you have a sandbox which is totally independent of the "installed" SMath version.

Once you reinstalled the old program version go in the Extensions Manager (Tools > Plugins) and remove the plugins you have previously updated in the newer version (select each plugin that has a red backkground or didn't work as expected, then click on the trash bin), finally switch the top right button from "Local Storage" to "Online Gallery" and reinstall the extensions you need.

Добрый день, уважаемые эксперты SMath.

Спасибо за вашу работу и за новое обновление SMath Studio.

Martin- Thank you for this!

How do you recommend to handle the different plugin versions? If there is a version update to the plugin, is it safe to assume that the updated plugins are 100% backward compatible?

Thanks

Dennis

If you are working with different portable versions, then you have separate directories for each of them. Each version has it's own extensions subdirectory, which you need to fill using the extension manager. Then the extension manager should offer you the plugin versions appropriate for the particular SMath version. Usually this works reliably. Never just copy the extension subdir from some other portable version.

Andrey, did you deliberately change shortcuts for greek letters?

f Ctrl-G now produces the closed phi sign (\phi in LateX). In previous versions it used to produce the open version of the sign (\varphi)

I'd vote for the old version.

they got flipped-flopped- i did not notice until you pointed it out.

i remembered the mention that it was added the 2 'special' greek chars, but I could not figure what it meant until i looked at the symbols panel. if you hover over the symbol, it gives you the shortcut in the new version.

curiously, in 6839, the hotkey work, i do not remember when they got added.
