Hi, I installed SMath on the new workstation (brand new, just received it on Wednesday :P).
OS is Windows 10.

SMath run smoothly at first, or at least, I do not remember I noticed something strange...
Then I opened up some worksheets that require some additional plugins (by Davide Carpi, the "writer region" and the "combo-box" one).
Smath propted as usual to download the required/missing plugins, and so I did.
Honestly, I did not notice strange start-up time at that moment.

This evening I launched SMath again: it stays on the splashscreen window, stuck on the "Loading Plug-in" message, up to one minute before starting the software itself.
Tried to disabled and uninstall every additional plugin, but start-up lag did not solve.
Uninstalled Smath and installed back again, start-up is still slow.

Any clue?

Thanks, regards

Federico

Ciao Federico,

please navigate to the %APPDATA% path (type it in the start menu or any folder address bar) and delete the smath folder.

Also I see that there is some SSL certificate expired today, so the issue might be here.

Davide,
I just tried right now to uninstall again, delete the suggested folder as per your previous post, install Smath back.
Unfortunately, splashscreen still gets stuck for 50 seconds on start-up

Not sure what the "SSL certificate thing" implies, but I would assume that it is something out of my range of control, isn't it?

You can try to check if this is the cause by changing UpdateOnStart=1 to UpdateOnStart=0 in %APPDATA%\SMath\settings.inf

If doesn't solve:
- navigate to c:\Program Files (x86)\smath studio
- in the address bar, type cmd then hit enter
- in the command prompt write smathstudio_desktop.exe -s -i
- make a screenshot and post it here

Last option is to check the firewall.

Hi Davide, slow start-up is suddenly gone today :P

I had the chance to quickly test it this afternoon, when I came back in office, LAN connected.
I waited to test it at home with wi-fi (since one option was to address the cause to firewalls..), before reporting here.

So, maybe that expired SSL certificate was the root cause? I mean, something external, not strictly related to my installation, firewall, new pc, etc?

This said, I will try (not this evening...) to add again plug-ins one by one.
I'll keep you posted in case something unusual happens again..

Thanks for your support in the meanwhile, keep you the good work (great plug-ins, by the way...)!

Ciao
Federico
