I am new to Smath. It looks like a good alternative to Mathcad which I have used for over 25 years. I find the pricing, license policies and support of PTC to be abominable.

I am using Smath on a Windows 7 system.
I want to import Mathcad files. When I experiment with trying to do so I get the following errors in response to the indicated actions.

Try to open any .xmcd file created with Mathcad
Error message
c:\evs all\evs mtoz\mcadlib\testforsmath.xmcd
Could not load the file or assembly 'TextRegion, Version=1.9.4868.42192,
Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system
cannot find the file specified.

Does anyone have a solution? I don't see others in the forum having similar problems.

What SMath are you using? I suggest you to use the 0.96.4909 version.
If you like my plugins consider to support SMath Studio buying a plan; to offer me a coffee: paypal.me/dcprojects

Thanks.
That solved the loading problem.
Now I guess I need to address other issues causing parsing problems.

Why did Smath tell me I had the current version even though it was not 4909? It was 4868 I think.

4868 is the latest stable relase.
4909 was shared by the author as a nightly build (a beta version) but is good enough to be used as a stable relase, until a new stable relase will be available. The update manager notify you only stable relases, therefore the automatic update from the 4868 is not possible.

I would like to use Smath as a replacement for Mathcad (which I have used since version 1) because of PTC’s poor pricing, licensing and support. However, since I have a large library of files, this would not be practical until it is possible to import more of the Mathcad scripts without errors. This is a list of problems that are labeled as parsing errors.
1. Smath does not support the Mcad global define operator (~).
2. Smath does not open a file in Skydrive.
3. Does not carry over the names of areas although it preserves highlighting.
4. Does not support referenced files.
5. Does not support Tab in text regions.
6. Does not wrap text at page boundaries where mcad did.
7. Seems to skip over defined areas arbitrarily.
8. Does not preserve separation between areas.
9. Areas do not open to expose full mcad content without overlapping next area.
10. Formatting of text (font, color, bold) is not preserved in all instances.
11. Parse errors appear to be left as blank lines (a good thing since they identify where errors exist).
12. Some equations seem to be skipped arbitrarily.
13. Plot areas are defined but they don’t have the plots.
14. Programming blocks are skipped leaving blank lines.

The Mathcad "reference" has Smath equivalent "Include".
Your Mathcad 15 is so obsolete anyway !
What about my 1800 Mathcad 11 WS ! I may have converted nearly 100.
Smath is not a 1/1 PTC Mathcad 15. Mathcad 15 was MuPad symbolic abandonned for Maxima.
Smath is Maple symbolic engine, in many instances far superior to Mathcad 11/Maple 11.
It might be wise you purchase a spare PC to install your Mathcad CD, make it work and never
plug to internet connection. You don't know the day PTC will deactivate Mathcad 15 like they
did with Mathcad 11 "Single User Edition" who had purchased or otherwise legally owned.
Just try to save the working Mathcad 15 program, no more gyzma from the work sheet. And if
it works, "pure Smath users" will have to recode in Smath style.
