Histogram of two thousand great mathematicians from Wikipedia. The x-axis is how many years they lived, the y-axis is how many mathematicians lived to reach that age. On the left is Galois, and on the right... Do you know this mathematician?  Edited by user 16 October 2023 20:03:58(UTC)

I consider Euler to be the greatest mathematician. He is buried in St. Petersburg. Then I accidentally ended up in the Swiss town Riehen not far from Basel. I remembered that the Euler spent his youth in this town. I found out where Euler’s house was and drove up to it. The back of Euler’s head in the bas-relief with the profile of a lion immediately caught my eye. Leonard (Euler's name) is a "steadfast lion"! Has anyone else heard of this encoding of Euler's name on his memorial sign? Someone stuffed chewing gum into Euler's ear.
