Two new bugs in two days. Should I stay in bed ?
The joke about Gram-Schmidt bug is that "pretencious" PTC Mathcad
is Maxima based, as well they have acquired the Maxima bug heritage.

Problem with CAS is that "Bugs are silent", they don't speak and the
PC does not cry either nor flames !

Any cure in these two's ?

Jean

Hello Jean,

For the first "Silent bug" it will be Ok (I think) if you just use Numerical or None the Optimization of the f(s) function definition (Right click on it and change Optimization). It is well known that SMath Optimization procedures are quite unreliable and that was mentioned many times here on the Forum. Just suppress the optimization whenever you can.

Radovan

Salut Ioan,

Thanks for help. The first bug is a bug version,
it refuses to work in my Smath.

For the second bug, no way to make it work via Maple Smath command.
It must be a Maple bug because it did work in Mathcad/Maple versions 8 Pro, and version 11

Very interesting

The last version of the file I posted (Bugs_id_b.sm) the drawing obtained is the same as that you obtained with Mathcad.
This means for me that the way used for the function prod(f;g), well recognized in Mathcad, is bad recognized in SMath.

Very interesting Ioan,

My Smath [5346] that runs in XP Home is less recent than yours ... first explanation.
I have recollection of long threads Mathsoft Collaboratory about "Dot" product
between "Neerds" [Tom, Robert, Stuart ...]. "Dot" different in Mathcad 11 than
in Mathcad 8 Pro and Mathcad 2000. On that, Mathsoft had meeting and consulted
10 different source books: 5 agreed in on version of "Dot", the other 5 agreed
on the other version. Finally Mathsoft agreed with the Maple of the time.
Further, there may be arithmetic rules from Windows ?
Maple Primes is different than Maple 11, thus creates conflict among their users

Hope Smath collabs who will download "Symbolic Gram-Schmidt" will work for them.

Thanks for rescueing for many Smath visitors.

Jean

Ioan, Radovan,

Please kill me with a blank bullet,
otherwise: you will have no more.
