Hello Jean, Seems the crash it is related with the name of the iterator argument of sum(). Until is not fixed you can cure it by renaming k in either one of L(x,n) or the for loop (move on the variable k, press F8 and rename it at once), then you can evaluate safely. moderation: topics mergedEdited by user 13 January 2017 20:08:36(UTC)

Thanks Davide: it evaluates. But the nice symbolic evaluation can't be assigned as expanded. So, for the coefficients and polyroots we are forced to copy/paste. Not convenient for n > 4 Up until now: Smath 6179 does not accept Legendre as companion. This "bug" of impossible isolation reflects on the "numden". Was working great 5346 but not anymore 6179. I understand why the collab from Russia asked several times about "numden". My nice western 5346 turned red over east !!! Legendre plots for any 'n'. For the roots and weigth: from the web. Jean Bug 6179 Legendre for Doctoring.sm (50kb) downloaded 17 time(s).
