I'm a long time user of SMath and I think it's amazing.
My background is electrical engineering and Smath has replaced excel as my go to software for doing engineering calculations and reports. Everyone else I know in the industry all use excel to do their calculations and then they copy the results in a word document to create reports. Obviously this is extremely inefficient as inevitable changes in inputs results in having to re-write reports.
The main features I need to produce professional looking reports though is rich text formatting and spell check. Because of this, I use the "Writer Region" plugin by Davide Carpi for all text and never use the standard "Text region."
I thought I'd throw it out there and see if most people would agree to integrate "Writer Region" to replace "Text region" or add all of the features of "Writer Region."
Cheers,
Andy

Thanks Andy,
Likewise electrical engineer, and I hate reviewing Excel calc sheets.
Writer region is awesome (thanks Davide!).
By the way: the XY-region plugin is great for parametric drawings (thanks Martin!).

I think your request has already been somewhat addressed by SMath's new "Document mode": https://en.smath.com/for...20002_Document-mode.aspxOriginally Posted by: aburke ... Since the SMath document mode is still underdeveloped, an option for have more or less automatically export regions of a SMath worksheet to images (with the updated results in the calculations) for insert them later as images from external files as sources in a text editor like Word or others, is the "Snapshot Region" plugin: https://en.smath.com/for...060_Snapshot-Region.aspxBest regards. Alvaro.

Hello Andy. Ordinary text from " keyboard is mostly reserved for project complementary notes as needed to explain. Lovely for abstract scientific style. Writer Region is more advanced, splendid to highlight parts of project. But too much when not needed, IMHO. Both styles Text & Writer accommodate inserting live maths project inside the region. Very convenient as it may resume pages of project. Simply complementary companions at will. Cheers ... Jean.

Features like font options, alignment, line spacing imlpemented to text region. You can even insert formulas in it. It will be a calculation if you want. Yet there are also useful features not implemented to it. Spell check is missing, also subscripting and superscripting. You can't make lists inside or indent a paragraph, etc. Some may need the features of Writer Region, some may not. In past, I used it for some page design and font variations. But improvements already made into text region are enough for me. Nowadays, I don't even need Writer Region. I never use it. I just keep it when I look into other users sheets. Changing Text Region to Writer Region would create problem for backward compatibility. I think most users only used Text Region. Some worksheets may not be opened if replaced by Writer Region. I would vote for adding missing features. I think that will be more convenience and appropriate. Regards
