Interesting features to incorporate in new versions of SMath

Dear All,
I have been using SMath Studio for more than 4 years, an incredible tool for engineering. I take this opportunity to thank those who did it and collaborate with this project.
I would like to propose two simple features to be incorporated in the next versions:
1) When ones set the user-defined background colors. Yes, it is possible that these colors are recorded in the SMath so that they can be used in other new documents. Because when you close SMath, the colors defined by the users disappear.
2) Whether an operator can be set to work with 10E-6 engineering notation; 8.352E3 etc in the definition of variables.
Thanks and regards
JuanMa

1. A document that as some pieces background are saved by Smath as resident. However, work sheet background is not resident, thus not saved. You insert WS background from the drop down Insert. which you have saved in file and insert from file. 2. I don't understand your 2nd question ? Be more specific/example. Cheers ... Jean.

Jean, thanks for the answer. Attached two images to illustrate the proposals, Proposal 1: Could the background colors defined by each user be stored so that they can be used in other documents? Proposal 2

Smath does not have Engineering notation. Personally, I found confusing. Some work sheet background that you save in your Smath file directory. Please, acknowledge if working. Cheers ... Jean. Sorry for muffed duplicate. You may have to stretch some . They are created from virgin Insert Image, background from icon. captured/pasted WinGrab or else, saved *.PNG Interesting for quality publishing Smath document as image.

... copy the color you want, paste in Smath document, adjust by handles, slide over the maths. That way may be saved on transmitted document.

... please, confirm if you have Gamma Cloud over some maths. Solve roots Butler.sm (198kb) downloaded 5 time(s).

They are proposals, in case someone wants to incorporate them into the new versions. Engineering notation is very useful for many, and could be a good addition to SMath for when you don't want to use units (u, m, k, M). I add one more capture with respect to being able to save on the SMath platform for the funds of the mathematical cells. Thanks and regards JuanMa

Highlight document region is resident, then saved. Your question was about the overall work sheet background, is IT ?

The proposal is to be able to save in the SMath the colors that one customizes to give background color to the mathematical cells. I don't know how these colors are memorized for use in new SMath documents.

I don't know how these colors are memorized for use in new SMath documents. When you open an Smath sheet, it is virgin. You highlight regions from customized icon background. You can add/save 16 personalized background. They are all there for new Smath documents. They are there up until Smath crashes or you close Smath. Windows saves those personalized background, not Smath.

I guess that issues like pre-defined or stored background colors are just a partial function of what the concept of styles should do, be it for formula cells or text cells. There should be some pre-defined styles for section titles, ordinary text, input cells etc just like in Word. These could be augmented by custom styles. Giving these styles proper names would facilitate the creation of consistently designed sheets.
If the built-in styles fit the needs of most users, they mitigate the need for custom styles and support a general corporate design of SMath sheets.
One might even think of themes (sets of styles) like "paper and pencil", "colorful" etc.
For now, it is perhaps wise not to use too much individual styling in SMath sheets. |
