I am a new user of smath and I like most of the functionality. However, I feel that there are LOTS of features that would be nice to have that are missing. For example, font formatting, pdf export, etc.
For this reason, and because this software is free, I am confused why this software is not open source. If it were, I am sure there would be a lot more development and it would improve much more quickly.

So why is it not open source? If not GPL then BSD?

Thanks. I like the software, I just have a hard time wanting to use it with so many features missing. I think there would be plenty of people willing to help improve it, and with a BSD license, it would still be very easy to make a commerical version of it and sell it.
