Since Smath Studio 0.98.5908 I can't install on my computer. :'(

System information.jpg

The instalation stops and warn me:

Installation error.jpg

I can see that it has to be with my system, not with Smat Studio , because my system don't have the referred KEY.

Can someone help me with this issue?

@ ioan92:

I uninstalled the software and cleaned the registry, but the result was the same before trying to install the new version.

Any idea?

If not, look for the help from Microsoft to install it.

Probably barely useful, if he uninstalled a previous SS version the framework should be available. Huh

.NetFramework 3.5 is ok.

Special detail:

I can install without trouble until SS v0.97.5737, but can´t install the newest version. SS v0.97.5737 doesn´t not look for or work on HK_LOCAL_MACHINE32\software\ ....

Why newer versions ask for these KEY?

I'm not sure why does it happen. I just updated a tool which creates MSI packages and prepared new installer for you to test: http://smath.info/file/hSHdD

Please let me know if it do help or not.

Thanks in advance!

Same thing Smath 5346 XP SP3: Smath does not exist in the Registry.
A faint vxMax that does not necesarily implies Maxima. That's
probably why Maxima does finds itself in the jungle, except for
Maxima stuff that comes from the Insert menu f(x).

Can you check the permissions of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs?
This is the place where your HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32 path should redirect to.
My Win7x64 has the following:
Everything is INHERITED from MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node
Users - read (this key and subkeys)
Administrators - Full access (this key and subkeys)
System - Full access (this key and subkeys)
Creator-owner - Custom (everything checked) (Subkeys only)
Best regards,
Mike Kaganski

Thanks Mike, I will check. If Smath is hidden so far deep,
somebody will have to explain me the square wheel. I know a square
wheel runs flat in arcs of cycloid.

Good
If I'm right, the problem isn't with SMath itself.

From my system administration experience, I suppose the following.
Recent SMath may have changed its installation process to not only register its DLLs for system bitness (64 on 64-bit system), but also for 32-bit to prevent acccidental removal in some exotic cases. Or it could be vice versa: it could have earlier always written to 32-bit, and now it writes to both 32- and 64. That could be either Andrey's decision (absolutely correct, I must say), or a change of packaging software - doesn't matter.

However, problems sometimes happen with Windows Installer itself (the OS subsystem that manages installs/uninstalls) that RANDOMLY changes (ruins) registry keys access control lists (ACLs). In a homogenous environment, where ~70 PCs were installed identically, all had identical HW and SW componennts, and so on, once in maybe 1-1,5 years one will suffer from this problem, while all others are OK. And I had this with MS softwares (MSOffice, Live Communicator), AutoCAD, Russian program CTAPT, LibreOffice, etc. Just have to go and manually fix that... Sometimes the fix itself isn't easy, because the system won't let me: it doesn't give me required rights. Had to repeatedly take ownership - reset ACLs - take ownership - ...
Best regards,
Mike Kaganski

Jean, I suppose yours is not "same thing", but a totally different case! You have SMath installed successfully, only Maxima plugin fails to function properly. I'm really sorry, I cannot help here: I know nothing about Maxima.
Best regards,
